Matoke, locally also known as matooke, amatooke, ekitookye in southwestern Uganda, ekitooke in western Uganda, ebitooke in northwestern Tanzania, igitoki in Rwanda, and by the cultivar name East African Highland banana, is a starchy triploid banana cultivar originating from the African Great Lakes. They come in varying sizes depending on the place of origin.
Matooke is best prepared with steam, and contains a lot of healthy carbohydrates to give human with lots of energy. It contains a lot of water to stop the body from getting dehydrated and therefore keeps in proper functionality. Matoke also contains a lot of Potassium and vitamins A, B6 and C. Carbohydrates give energy to work.
